Black Dog Barbecue is an idea of a restaurant that has a laidback environment where people can relax, meet new friends, listen to music and eat delicious food. It is inspired by Led Zeppelin and the late evenings my husband spent smoking meat and playing fetch with our black lab.
The idea was to have a silhouette of a black lab for the logo, so I started off by creating two different possibilities and putting together font pairings. For the color palette, I decided on similar colors to the Mothership album that contains the song "Black Dog".
I went with the middle option for the font pairing. I chose it because it gave the rock vibe that I was going for while also being unique. The silhouette of the full dog was the best option for this project. It balances the logo and nests well within the spaces of the type.
To bring more of the music theme into the brand, I created a pattern with instruments used in Led Zeppelin. I also included silhouettes of the different types of meats that would be offered on the menu.
